Our Story
Burton Ghana Community Development CIC was founded by community members who recognised the need for a dedicated organisation to address the social, economic and health inequalities faced by diverse communities in Burton-on-Trent and the surrounding areas.
Our founders were inspired by the Ghanaian philosophy of Ubuntu: the idea that our humanity is bound up in the humanity of others. Drawing on that spirit, they set out to create an organisation that truly reflects the communities it serves, bringing together experience from health, education, social care, business and community development to build something meaningful and lasting.
Today, Burton Ghana CIC delivers a wide range of community-led programmes and services, working in partnership with local authorities, NHS organisations, schools, charities and businesses to create opportunities for all.

Ebenezer Yeboah
Founder & Chief Executive
Ebenezer founded Burton Ghana CIC with a vision to create a community organisation that truly reflects and serves the diverse communities of Burton. With over 15 years' experience in community development and social enterprise, he leads the organisation's strategic direction and partnerships.
Charles Martinson Awuku
Operations Manager
Abena oversees the day-to-day operations of the organisation, ensuring our programmes are delivered to the highest standard. She brings extensive experience in project management, community engagement and organisational development.
Priya Sharma
Finance & Compliance Officer
Priya manages the financial governance and compliance of the CIC, ensuring transparent and accountable use of all funding. She has a background in charity finance and social enterprise accounting.
Marcus Thompson
Youth Development Coordinator
Marcus leads our youth programmes, mentoring and leadership initiatives. He is passionate about empowering young people to reach their full potential and has worked with young people in Burton for over a decade.
Sarah Williams
Health & Wellbeing Lead
Sarah coordinates our health promotion and wellbeing programmes, working closely with NHS partners and community health champions. She brings a background in public health and community nursing.
Ama Boateng
Enterprise Development Officer
Ama supports community members to start and grow businesses, delivering training, mentoring and access to funding. She is a qualified business adviser with experience in social enterprise and women's economic empowerment.
